Svetlana Ulko was born in 1957 in Krasnodar, Russia.
At the age of 16 she entered the department of "Teacher of Drawing and Drafting" at Krasnodar Art College.
After graduation from the college, she worked in Ust-Labinsk art school, Russia, for a year.
Then she moved to Moscow and entered Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), department of "Cinema Production Costume Designer".
After she finished the institute in 1985, she started to work for Kyiv Film Studios named after Alexandr Petrovych Dovzhenko.
Svetlana participated in production of more than twenty full-length films and serials.
